Kallan in Daddy's boots!

Kallan loves shoes. She walks around picking up our shoes and tries to put them on herself or us. I put her into Mike's boots, she thought this was hysterical!

Santa Baby...

We took Kallan across the street on Wednesday to see Santa! She was not as excited as we were. Mrs. Claus was there too, reading stories. It was a nice neighborhood event. Kallan was pooped afterwards!

Kallan and Judah

Kallan has a friend named Judah who lives down the street. Today we went to Judah's house to play. Kallan likes his push car.

Okay, I got busy. I will try to post more again. :) Here is a video of Kallan in the tub. She is 13 months old now. She says, "Shoes, sounds like: shz, Dirty, sounds like: dede, That, this, night night, mama, dada, doo doo, and woof woof when she sees or hears a dog. She walks great. Loves the park.

Yes Mommy!

Kallan has learned to nod "YES". Does she know what it means? I wasn't so sure until I asked her a few questions to see. Me: "Does Daddy wear stinky socks", Kallan: nods YES. She DOES know what she means! Smart girl! Here is a silly face picture. She really has the walking down too. I will get some video of the walking soon.

Happy Anniversary!

Happy 2 years! Mike and I were able to go out for a nice dinner. When I say nice, I mean this place did not even HAVE highchairs!! What a treat.

Books, Books and MORE Books!

Kallan LOVES to be read to. She will take a book, open it, pull it up to her nose and babble on like she is reading the story! Here she is rearranging the book shelf. I guess they weren't in alphabetical order by author??

Walking!

Kallan is walking everywhere! Which is really scary in our house considering that 85% of the downstairs is tile! Can I wrap her in bubble wrap? Hmmmm....

Time FLIES!

Wow! I can't believe it's been over a month since I have posted! Kallan is just keeping us so busy. She went from crawling on her hands and knees to standing in a week! She is starting to walk. She can take about 3-4 steps before she dives into the floor.

I took Kallan to the beach for the first time on Friday. We met her friends there. It was a lot of fun! She is a little uncertain about being on the soft sand, I think it's the unstable feeling beneath her feet. She wasn't crazy about the fact that the sand stuck to her hands either. She did get a big kick out of the water as it came up and got her feet wet. Lot's of giggles!

We got the backyard started on landscaping. There is a lot more we want to do, but for now it is "usable". I will post pictures of that later.

We've been battling with the ants. They are winning, until Friday when we will have our secret weapon come in. We hired a pest control service. They will spray outside and use an organic, non-toxic spray inside. Hopefully this works.

Mike is busy, busy at work. He likes his new job, a lot different than elementary. He is mowing the lawn as I type. It looks like it might rain today. That would be different than the 100+ degree weather we have been having.

I have joined the Social Committee here at our community and am helping to plan big community events. I am really enjoying this.

That's all for now. Little Miss K is sleeping so there is much to be done! First I need to go stir our latest Chili recipe that is stewing in the crock pot. Mike and I have entered the Community Chili Contest.

Cirque Du Soleil

The Cousins are here!

Kallan's cousins are here! Leah (12) and Kaitlyn (9) are here to visit. They came on Tuesday and will be here until Friday. We are having fun. Yesterday we went to the Splash Park and pool to beat the heat. Today we had ice cream in the park at 10 am (just in time to ruin our lunch!), then we did some crafts at the house, made a trip to Michael's craft store and got some latch hook kits! I haven't done that since I was their age. They are working on them right now while watching Harry Potter with Uncle Mike. Tomorrow they will go see the new Harry Potter that is in the theater.

We all had races around the track in the back with the scooters, (I was by far the slowest). The corners are tricky, I can forsee the owies that are to come.

Kallan is as happy as can be. We are going to San Marcos on Friday to see some of her friends and have a playdate. I will take lots of pictures!

Wild Animal Park

Today I took Kallan and her friends to the Wild Animal Park. We went with Berk & Nevaeh. We had so much fun! Kallan laughed at the animals in the petting zoo, and loved to see the ducks and other birds. We will have to go again soon!

Vanity

Kallan is trying to comb her own hair today. Yes, instead of just chewing on her comb she is now trying to use it for combing her hair! It's cute. She also like to give all of her "babies" big wide open mouth kisses and hugs.

Checkin' in

Kallan is all over the place! She is so fun right now. She is starting to pretend to talk on the phone, to "da da" of course. She cried this morning when he left for work. She is on the move and can get around soooo fast! She wants everything she can't have. Mike and I have been putting off the babyproofing. I have the outlets all covered, we really need some latches for the drawers and cabinets, and gates for the stairs. I'll get on that next week.

It's Friday, Mike has been busy getting ready for school. The kids come next week. Middle school will be a change for him. I think he will like it.

The cement is poured and the patio and raceway look great! I will post pictures later.

Parade and Aunt KK's Visit

On Saturday we went to the Heritage Lake 1st Annual 4th of July Parade! It was fun. We walked Kallan around in the stroller and she loved looking at all the kids with their decorated bikes, wagons and motorized cars. By the end (11:30 a.m.) she was pooped and fell asleep in the stroller.

Saturday night Kara & Kourtney came up to visit, they are staying for a few days. Kallan loves the extra attention.

It's really hot here. Today it was 100 degrees and there is a heat wave coming over the next three days.

Lucky Number Seven

Kallan has her 7th tooth coming in on the top. The score right now is: 4 on the bottom, and 3 on the top, and many sleepless nights for mommy & daddy! Kallan is getting used to sleeping in her crib. We moved it in to our room since she still wakes up so much at night.

Tomorrow morning there is a community Parade around the lake. We will be walking in it. It should be fun! Look for new pics tomorrow!

This is Mike's last weekend before school starts.

Sinks & Cabinets

Hooray! Mike & Dad put up 3 hanging cabinets, one long cabinet, a three shelf unit and installed a sink in my laundry room.

Grandpa went home...

We had such a great time with Grandpa Dabbert! One of our favorite things to do everyday was go to the pool! It was a lot of hard work for Kallan!

All in a weeks work..

Dad and Mike have been very busy this week! They are getting a lot accomplished. After five hundred trips to Lowe's and Dixieline they have installed a garage door opener, put up shelving in the garage, built a park bench for the front of the house, hung pictures, hung curtains in Kallan's room, installed a dimmer switch for the downstairs lights, put sensors on the outdoor lanterns, install a sink in the laundry room, and as I type (and Kallan sleeps) they are building shelves for the laundry room. WOW! And I am sure I have left some little things out.

Kallan on the other hand has had quite a busy week too. She had a minor tragedy yesterday. My dad and I went to go clean out my classroom, we left Kallan in Daddy's care. When we came back we found out she had rolled off the bed after waking from her afternoon nap. Poor baby. Scared the heck out of daddy and Kallan had a red mark on the side of her head. Needless to say she now naps in her crib. (The red mark was gone by the end of the day).

Kallan also now has her two front teeth. (what will she put on her Christmas list now?) I KNOW!! How about a little ride on trike?? One that she can ride around on her raceway that we are building for her in the backyard?

They came and did the framing work in our backyard yesterday.(Pictures below) It should be completed by next week and ready for BBQ'in in about 2 weeks!

Well that's all for now. Tomorrow off to the Farmer's Market in Temecula, Sunday Brunch to celebrate all the week's accomplishments.

Grandpa visits casa de Walsh!

Grandpa Dabbert came on Friday. When he arrived Kallan was taking a nap. As soon as they met it was love at first sight! Kallan thinks Grandpa is the coolest! (I think the feeling is mutual).

Today Dad and Mike spent the day shopping at Lowes, Dixieline Lumber, and Sam's Club for things around the house. When they were done Mike started digging ditches in the back yard! What a project.

Well off to put Princess stinky pants to bed!

On the Move!

Kallan is on the move! She is really getting brave and taking steps towards crawling. Any day now we'll be chasing her around the house!

Bag of Tricks

Today Kallan pulled a new trick out of her bag. She can clap! Her favorite time to clap is when we play 'ball, ball". It's very cute. I tried to capture it on video with no luck. Maybe tomorrow. My mom and Grandpa Harry & his wife Kim came over for a visit. We had lunch and chatted.

The Sixth Sense

Do children have a sixth sense? Kallan does. She is talented! Tonight she went to bed early after refusing her late afternoon nap. So for a rare but nice treat Mike and I could have dinner without Kallan screaming at us to pick up the bowl she has thrown on the ground for the 10th time. The evening goes a little something like this: Mike gives Kallan a bath, puts on jammies, and reads her a book (or three). Enter mommy: nurse Kallan to sleep. 10 minutes later we are all in a happy place. I finish making dinner and get it onto a plate, just as I pull out my chair to sit in it and enjoy this dinner (here comes the sixth sense, the "mommy must be sitting down to dinner" sense), Kallan communicates through the monitor that she needs me... NOW! So 10 minutes later back downstairs to my now cold dinner and Mike is done. On the bright side.... I didn't have to pick up any bowls off the floor!

My mom came up today to see us, we went out to lunch and to Joanns Fabric store. Looks like we found the guy to do our patio, we are looking forward to getting a start on the backyard.

4 days till grandpa Dabbert comes! We can't wait!

Snaggletooth

Last night was a long one! Kallan was up a lot. Her first front tooth popped through last night and we all knew about it. Poor baby, poor mommy, poor, did daddy even know? Just kidding, we all felt her pain.

Off to church today and some other weekend chores, laundry, cutting the grass, etc. It's going to be a hot one today, it's only 7 a.m. and the sun is already shining brightly!

Long Day!

Kallan and I went down to Carlsbad today, about an hour drive. She slept on the way there and back. We went to see her friends at the park. We also made a little Father's Day surprise for Mike. Robin came over for dinner tonight. Mike was at his end of the year work party. Kallan was tired, she went to bed really early. We are all tired. Grandma comes tomorrow to spend some time with Kallan so Mike and I will slip out for a short while to do something together, not sure what. That's all for today.

Kallan has a little cold. She started sneezing yesterday and has a little bit of a runny nose. Mike thinks it may be allergies? She's never been sick before.

We had a rough time getting her to bed last night. 1.5 hours it took! Yikes! She did sleep pretty well after she finally went down. Tonight was much easier.

Mike only has one more week of school, then a nice break before he starts his new job. We are looking forward to having him home!

Today Kallan's friends from San Diego came to visit us! We had so much fun! Kallan hardly slept though, she was so tired. She only took 2 short naps (like 15-30 minutes each). Her friends are Logan, Finn, and Brooke, they are all around Kallan's age (from 6 - 8 months). We hope they will come visit us again soon.

Kallan has four teeth, all on the bottom. Today I can see a 5th tooth coming in on the top, FINALLY! Seems like every two weeks she has a new tooth.
